There are more than ten species of saltwater prawns which are reared commercially throughout the world, but tiger prawns (Panaeus Monodon) are one of the more popular species. Tiger prawns are reared in countries of Asia which possess tropical climates and these countries produce 60% to 70% of the world’s total tiger prawn production up from 52% in 1998. Tiger prawns/Black Tiger (Panaeus Monodon) and White Fasho (P. Orientalis) were the most important species of prawns reared in Asia.
