Dublin Bay Prawn (Nephrops norveigicus) Nephrops norvegicus is a shellfish that looks like a cross between a large prawn and a small lobster. It is known by a host of different names: Dublin Bay prawn, Norwegian lobster, scampi and langoustine all refer to this commercially important species. Scientifically it is classified as a lobster. Nephrops is the second most valuable species fished by the Irish fleet, with landings worth €28 million in 2002.
